Christians are reminded that each one of us is made in the image and likeness of God.
Every hair on your head is counted. (Lk 12:7)
So many people look in the mirror and don’t see what’s truly there. They don’t see their beautiful, pure essence. The meaning of our existence does not hinge on the flatness of your stomach or on the flabbiness of your arms! We can obtain great confidence from thinking about the simple words of a well-known hymn: “Before I formed you in the womb, I knew you through and through, I called you to be mine.”
As children of God we are all reminded by the words of St. Paul, “Nothing can come between me and the love of Christ Jesus my Lord.” (Rm 8:39) Remember that your soul and spirit will last longer than the most beautiful person’s good looks. If only we trusted more in the infinite love God has for each one of us. If only we took these words to heart, “The Kingdom of God is within you.” (Lk 17:21)
