Message from the Principal

As the Principal of St Patrick's College, I am delighted to introduce you to the College and, give you an insight into the opportunities we pride ourselves in being able to offer you.

Since taking up post I have been welcomed into the heart of the college community, a welcome which I can assure you is extended to everyone coming to St Patrick's College for the first time.

All the staff, both teaching and non-teaching, pride themselves in offering a caring, supportive environment, based on a strong sense of community, where all pupils are respected, regardless of their social or religious background.  It is a particular strength of the College that each individual pupil is made to feel valued and is supported and encouraged to reach his/her full potential, within a safe environment; where their ideas and dreams can reach fruition but also where they are allowed to make mistakes and learn from them.

I am pleased to report continued academic success for the College and its students.  In recent years our students have performed very well in GCSE examinations with an average of 41% plus achieving %+ GCSE's at the highest grades - the majority actually obtaining better than this, some as many as 9 passes at Grade A*-C.  As a result of their excellent performance, many students have progressed onto 'A' Level and other comparable courses.

Since September 2002 the College has offered a range of Vocational 'A' Level courses.  This range has been extended, both in september 2003 and 2004.  It is pleasing to report that many of our students have returned to complete their 'A' Level studies with us, alongside students enrolled from other schools.  In September 2004, we were over-subscribed in the number of applicants we had for these courses, as os many of our pupils wanted to remain at the College, in an environment where they felt both at home and academically challenged.  I can only add that the best ambassadors for St Patrick's College are our students and their loyalty speaks volumes about how much they value what we offer them.

In St Patrick's College, our vision is to inspire, to light the tinder and to create for our young people an environment where they can reach their full potential academically, spiritually and morally.

I hope you make the right choice at this time and I hope that we in St Patrick's College can play a central part in inspiring you to be the person, you can potentially become.
